Angela Jean

Angela Jean is a Yoga Alliance certified teacher based in Santa Monica, CA. She specializes in Vinyasa based Power Yoga that combines creative, innovative sequencing with safe and proper alignment that is always grounded in the breath. She believes in the transformative power of a challenging, fun and invigorating practice to lift the spirit and cultivate greater health and vitality. Through her personal practice and years of experience, she has come to discover that through proper alignment and breathing, combined with an open mind and a little taste for adventure, the practice of yoga moves beyond the realm of physical exercise and becomes a moving meditation, which allows for energy to flow freely throughout the body and the mind. It is through this freedom that one can attain greater happiness, improved focus and reduced stress. Angela leads both private and group sessions in Power Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yoga for Beginners, Yin Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation.

Angela comes from a professional background in dance and she received her BA in Musical Theater from UCLA in 2006. It was during this time that she took her first yoga class with Rudy Mettia, and from that moment on she was hooked. She has taught at numerous studios including Power Yoga East, Santa Monica Power Yoga, The Yoga Collective, Bhakti Yoga Shala and Yoga Salt where she currently teaches.

In addition to her other classes, Angela also teaches privates sessions, group classes and workshops geared towards yoga for recovery. She has extensive experience working with adolescent patients recovering from eating disorders at The Bella Vita Clinic in Los Angeles, CA. She believes that yoga is not only therapeutic for those rehabing from physical injuries but can also be a very powerful tool in helping those recovering from emotional trauma, depression and addiction.

Angela is extremely grateful for her yoga family at Udaya and is excited to be able to share the gift of yoga with everyone around the world!

Udaya Spotlight

Rudy often describes himself as “obsessed” with yoga and it is clearly evident in his teaching. Utilizing his experiences both on and off the mat, he inspires students to challenge their perceived boundaries while respecting their limitations. As he guides students within the class, he carefully breaks down each movement, finding myopic muscle and energetic actions to achieve the most.
