Bird Is The Word What’s in a name? Many of the yoga poses we know and love have Sanskrit names that relate to nature—animals, plants, rock formations. Sometimes it’s easy to see the correspondence between the shape and it’s name—crane pose stands on long skinny arms, the feathered peacock throws it’s proud tail high. The association goes deeper though, the name having more to do with the inherent experience of the pose than just its shape. In this vinyasa class we’ll explore the birdlike qualities of bird poses—feathery lightness, structural integrity between torso and wings, and a piercing gaze.
