Life is hectic and non-stop. Between work, family, friends, and the plethora of demands we experience on a daily basis, our bodies go through a lot to keep us moving along at full speed. Everyone typically experiences things like fatigue, headaches, stomach discomforts, and other mild maladies, but many of us simply write them off or self medicate so that we can quickly get back to the important things in life.

A detox is a way to thank your body for all it does for you; to give it a break, to nurture your inner wisdom, and to do some serious interior maintenance.

Here are the ways it does that.

Restores Acid/Alkaline balance

When our systems become overly acidic, we become much more prone to mild and serious illnesses. Our systems become overly acidic from:

  • Refined sugar & processed foods
  • Stress
  • Pollution (air, water, body & home products, pesticides)
  • Alcohol & cigarettes
  • Red meat

To remedy this, a detox strips the diet of acidic foods and heals it with a conscious diet of whole, alkaline foods and pure water. This helps flush acidity and enables your system to flourish. In the process it strengthens your immune system, enables your organs to function at their highest level, and reduces the inflammation that causes sickness.

A detox promotes a harmonious inner environment by eliminating acidity and promoting alkalinity. An alkaline system is one that thrives and supports your overall health.

Nurtures the adrenal glands and thyroid

The adrenal glands are responsible for regulating the secretion of all of the hormones in our bodies. Our hormones have a very delicate balance, and are critical in controlling our energy levels, sex drive, sleep quality, hunger and satiety, and mood. Over time, certain lifestyle choices can overstrain the adrenal glands and can send our hormones out of whack. This contributes to sleep issues, inability to control our moods, extreme fatigue, difficulty handling stressful situations, and other problems.

A detox helps to reset our adrenal glands and supports our thyroid function, which regulates the speed and efficiency of all of our mechanics. This enhances our natural energy, mental clarity, vitality and overall happiness.

Highly Anti-Aging

Aging is a product of many things, but there is a lot we can do to improve the way in which we age. Because digestion is the most energy intensive process in our bodies, it contributes to aging. As Americans, we tend to eat all day and snack in between meals, so our bodies don’t get much rest.

When we eat predigested foods like smoothies and juices, our bodies are able to easily pull the nutrients without having to do much work to break down the food. When our body is spending less energy digesting food, it’s much more able to do maintenance in other areas.

A detox is packed with antioxidants that help escort toxins out of the system that would otherwise contribute to visible signs of aging like sunspots and wrinkles. Antioxidants also enhance cell regeneration and the production of proteins like collagen that keep our skin looking fresh and young.

With the typical lifestyle that many of us lead, a detox is a wise and beautiful way to heal and nourish the being that enables us to accomplish everything we do. Taking the time to do so will enhance your quality of life, and the way in which you experience each day.
