David Ezekiel Schlais’ yoga journey began as an 8-hour-a-day desk jockey looking to cure the kinks in his neck. Yoga indeed reduced his tension and added some much-needed flexibility; however, the biggest benefit was a surprise intro to and adoption of yogic philosophies. The yoga mat quickly became a parallel to life, reflecting where our ego pushes into injury and where our truth meets a steady breath and calm mind.
Since 2000, David has taught yoga at elite studios across California but now focuses his practice and teaching where most people leave their yoga behind, the office. He created ‘Office Yoga’ with UDAYA to benefit his own as well as others’ workplace and general well-being. While working as the Head of Strategic Initiatives for UCLA’s Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, David finds the brief stretches and chants from ‘Office Yoga’ keeps him and others in a yogic state of mind throughout each day.
David received his 200-Hour Yoga Alliance Certification with Rudy Mettia and Travis Eliot and an additional 100-Hour Yoga Alliance Certification with Rod Stryker.
